So, as mentioned earlier, many of the JCB team are off to San Francisco this weekend for the annual American Society for Cell Biology meeting. We'll be at the Moscone Center for all 5 days, from the Saturday to the Wednesday, and posting on the blog regularly to let you know what we're seeing: whether it be something exciting in the minisymposia or something embarrassing in CellSlam 2008.
This will be my first time at a conference as large and varied as ASCB - I've only been to small, focused meetings before now. I'm not quite sure what to expect: with over 100 sessions and 3500 posters, it seems like it could almost get overwhelming: just getting through the meeting program (huge PDF here) is hard enough work. I know many people who prefer the smaller, intimate meetings, but I'm excited to see what ASCB is like. It should certainly be interesting to watch San Francisco get taken over by cell biologists for a few days - and there's bound to be some great science to discover amongst it all. Whatever we find, you'll read about it here...
